I feel like I haven't been doing anything creative for a while, so I was very happy to find active challenge communities on DW.

For graphics challenge communities, I'm currently participating in theaviary which is a lot of fun, iconthat, participated once in fridayfive, and the magical20in20 challenge in caffeinatedmagic was soooo tempting but in the end I didn't enter because of ... reasons.

As for the non-graphics, I signed-up for snapshot_bingo which seemed to be so exciting and fun reading about it. Plus, I have a new prosumer camera I bought before Japan that I'm totally in love with. But when I tried to get snapshots for some of the prompts, it's actually not that easy. My life is too boring, I need to explore more.

Several Things ...

I just got back from Lombok on Wed, and it was pretty exhausting. When I was in Lombok I got a good news from the publishing company I applied to a month ago. They accepted me to work as their freelance translator and I'll be able to earn extra income aside from my main job (which I hate). They'll send me a copy of one comic book soon as a beginning. Which was ... yay! I enjoy translating comic books and I'm happy to be back as a comic book translator.

On other news, ... JPG did another couture show in Paris this week and of course, androgyny poster boy/JPG muse Andrej was there. The collection as a whole is stunning though I don't really like the ones Andrej wore or how they styled him. ... Paul Boche was also there which I approve. Lately I just realized that I ship Andrej/anyone. Maybe it's because I've longed for a new ship to sail.

So I shouldn't be writing this but here I am.

Like what I wrote on my last entry, I made my first tumblr graphics in a long time yesterday. I must say despite the fact that I haven't done any graphics for a while, my computer broke down, and I only had a couple hours to finish the entry, I am pretty satisfied and proud with the result. Granted, it could be better given a couple more days, but that was a luxury that I didn't have. I hope next time/challenge I can do better. Here it isss :

I haven't been feeling inspired in doing any graphics. Or anything at all, maybe. I wanted to do the 100 things challenge, I do. In fact, I am writing my 5th entry since forever. I'm trying, but apparently my short attention span can not handle it. I need something new, I need a fresh obsession, but sadly there's nothing I encountered that I feel like I can dedicate myself to in terms of graphics making. I need new excitement, new distraction.

Speaking of, anon_icon was new and they have flash challenges as one of their activity and they did Andrej, OMG. The results were awesome, sadly it was not revealed who made which one so we can't credit if we want to use any of them :/


I do think the icon community especially the elites need to icon him more!

I love babbies. I love it even more when mah favorite boys (or ladyboys) are photographed with them.

Tommy, on the other hand, is doing a little US tour with Adam to promote Adam's new album & single at radio stations accross the country. Which results in, lots of new pics and videos of him surfacing every day. It's a really good feeling to see him smiling and being cute in general.

Right around the beginning of the month, inspired20in20 is doing another round and had a sign-up post up. I took my time to contemplate whether to do this or not, usually I let the inspiration post 'talk' to me before I decide to join. But this time, all the memories I have about the comm is a fun, awesome, positive ones so I have no hesitation to sign up even before the inspiration post was up. And I decided to sign up with Tommy :) I can not wait to make Tommy icons again with the techniques I learned the past couple of months. My last Tommy icon post was in October last year for tjr_challenges, and I've grown a lot since then.

In addition to Tommy icons, I'm also planning to make a small Andrej batch and some of Sharon, too! All my obsessions in one place, so it's totally going to be an exciting post :D

I have to say, I'm very proud of this batch. I experimented different things and I think I've figured out a lot about texture use and even icon making in general! I made my first ever blocking icon (a style I avoid the most), I transformed ugly pixelated screencaps into a decent icon, I managed to make the batch interesting with different crop, style, technique and text use. Granted, there are several icons I wasn't satisfied about, but overall, I think I've accomplished plenty.

Moving on to the second topic of this entry, I had to say goodbye to my laptop.

Can I rant about one tiny little thing though, WHY DO THEY HAVE TO USE THE MOST UNFLATTERING PHOTO OF ANDREJ EVER for the voting site? Like, seriously, there are thousands of professional pics of him and you managed to get the worst looking one?

After more than a half year, I finally finished my 100 icons batch for fandom365days, yay! After lining them up in a table, I realized there are some I don't really like and I thought I could do better, or some pics that are repeated or look similar to each other, but overall I think I've grown as a graphics artist during the time I was filling all these prompts. Thank you to fandom365days mods and theme posters! I know it's a lot of work and a serious commitment to maintain a continous challenge community like that :)

I know obsession20in20 owner 12feethigh (and her co-mod vampire_sessah) are good icon makers/in the elite circle. That fact only made me pumped to get to their level when submitting my set. I need to be around awesome icon makers more, they inspire me to grow and try things I've never attempted before.

Yesterday I was still high on Gaultier Couture, and I went to hunt EVERY PICTURE OF ANDREJ from the event that are available on the internet. As I was saving my pics, I made a folder in my computer and I named it 'Thailand' simply because I think Andrej's look reminded me of Thailand - the accesories, the golds, and the color scheme in general. I would personally believe that this is inspired by Thailand more than Amy Winehouse, lol.

On other Andrej and graphic news, I currently have finished 90 Andrej icons out of 100 Andrej icons for fandom365days! 10 more themes and I would be done. IDK if I'm going to claim anything else, it's been quite a painful journey, lol.

I have signed up with Andrej for both model20in20 and obsession20in20 and I wasn't sure I will be able to finish, but hopefully I can with all the new pics :) One more, the 20in20 challenge in therainbowtree is VERY tempting. We don't even need to sign up, we just need to post. I have made a set of category icons, but I really should finish the first two first since they have earlier deadlines.
