This is super late post but I didn't have a lot of chances to blog last month so I will write it now.
I didn't care so much about Back to 20 when Lulu was filming it. I still didn't care when the stills were out and they started doing promos of the film. I've never seen Miss Granny nor I ever want to just because Lulu is in the Mandarin version of the movie. I didn't even look at Back to 20's trailers or BTS whenever I encountered any out there. I did want to watch the movie, but I was trying to keep my expectation low and I always choose to judge things after I see the whole thing, the real thing. This is often the case for me for anything, I want to get into new TV shows, movies, anything without any bias.
In January I tweeted to our local theater, which often shows foreign movies other than Hollywood ones, asking them to show Back to 20. There was no response and I didn't expect a lot at that time. I don't see a lot of Mandarin movies in regular theater, and I also don't think a bunch of Luhan fans have enough power to make them play one here, IDK.
But one day in March when I went to watch Cinderella with Dhani my co-worker, I spotted a promotion cardboard standing poster thingy, of 20, Once Again (the official international title of Back to 20) at the theater!! WTF! I was there March 17 and the poster said the movie will start playing March 18. HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS, HOW. I was in panic mode, scrambling through the internet for information. They pushed back the playing date to March 20, gives out 20% discount for people whose age is 20, bla bla bla promotions.
I asked my cute cousin Kayla who is a big Luhan fan on Sunday if she wants to watch it with me and if her dad allows me to. So I went to watch with her on Sunday March 22. I even got a 50% discount with her father's credit card, lol. I did not plan that. What I didn't expect is also, THE MOVIE WAS SO GOOD WTF. I mean, I didn't expect anything and I found the movie to be really, really entertaining. The casts are cute, the setting, the costumes, everything is real good. The flow of the story is just perfect. I normally am not a fan of dramas but this one is really, really good. I'm biased for my bb but still.
The next week after an exhausting internal audit at the office I asked my co-worker Dhani to watch it again with me. I had a feeling that she'd LOVE it. The theater was empty beside us and a lady with her kid but I don't mind that a bit. I love it. After the second time I still love it. Dhani laughed like a crazy person and she LOVED IT SO MUCH.
We also got paper fan of the movie poster and Lulu on the back which I shamelessly put on my cubicle at work. I don't even care. He's pretty and looking at him makes me happy.

Another thing I did not expect: I got obsessed with the Xiang twins.
PICSPAM!

WHAT THE HELL. They're so cute! They look alike! How did they even find these casts, like seriously??? I don't know but I always think it's cute how people that are not related have similar face. I think this was also the reason why I fell in love with HunHan. I'm immediately OBSESSED.
In conclusion, if there is ever a perfect first movie for Lulu, this was it. It was perfection all around. The character he plays fits him perfectly. It was directed by a young, talented Taiwanese director, all the casts are just perfect for their characters! It's an adaptation from a Korean movie so it reached the K-lovers audience but at the same time spreads to mainstream people who doesn't even follow hallyu. I don't have any complaints. It's beautiful. I would watch it over and over again.
