Another icon batch & bye bye laptop
It's Monday again!!
Even though I'm a little sleepy right now, thankfully my weekend went well. I had planned several things to do before and on the weekend, and I think I managed to do most of them. One of my goals was to finish my
inspired20in20 batch, which I have been working on since the day the inspiration post went up (I think, I forgot). Andrej has several new photoshoot up, so I was pretty inspired and my muse was working. The theme was 'Warm & Cool' and I simply went for the easiest concept, warm colored icons vs cool colored icons. I have to be honest, for inspiration batches, rather than one by one inspiration, I mostly got inspired by the whole concept/theme, and let my muse run wild while working on the batch (as opposed to people whose each icon is inspired by different inspiration item).
I managed to make the post before I went out with my mom yesterday :

Complete batch (+ other icons) is here @

I have to say, I'm very proud of this batch. I experimented different things and I think I've figured out a lot about texture use and even icon making in general! I made my first ever blocking icon (a style I avoid the most), I transformed ugly pixelated screencaps into a decent icon, I managed to make the batch interesting with different crop, style, technique and text use. Granted, there are several icons I wasn't satisfied about, but overall, I think I've accomplished plenty.
Moving on to the second topic of this entry, I had to say goodbye to my laptop.
TO MY LAPTOP, the first expensive posession that I've ever bought with my own money after working several part time jobs in Japan. I know it's old, but it's still my friend and it accompanies me before sleep every night. You know, when I'm done with my main PC in the living room, shut it down, go to my room to sleep but I still need to browse something or send an email, or play a video to watch before sleep. I'm making it sounds very dramatic, though it didn't die or broken or anything, it's only going to be borrowed. My brother who is currently enrolling a college in Bandung, is going to write his graduation thesis in a couple of months. He needs a laptop and he obviously couldn't afford one.
Yesterday I cleaned it up, delete some unnecessary files, and packed it into a laptop bag. I know I still have my PC but it felt so sad parting with my laptop! I put it next to my brother's bag (which was also mine, btw) before I went to bed. When I woke up in the morning it's no longer there, my brother came home before midnight and went back to Bandung with it. ... so for the next months, I won't have proper internet from my room.
